Childhood Cancer Walk

TEAM ZOEYS PEEPS 2009
Press Release) – Sep 23, 2009 – The Parkway Run raises money to benefit The Cancer Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.  Over 1.8 million dollars has been contributed from the annual events to The Children's Hospital in the hopes of funding research for cures to childhood cancer.

The Velahos family will be participating in the run for their 3rd year in a row as members of their team, "Zoey's Peeps".  Nancy and Efthemios Velahos joined The Parkway Run after losing their beloved daughter, Zoey, to brain cancer in December of 2006.  In addition to The Parkway Run, the Velahos's formed The Zoey Bleu Foundation in honor of their daughter's memory.

The Zoey Bleu Foundation is an organization set up to assist families with children fighting cancer. Donating money to allow a parent to take time off from their job while trying to process the most difficult news a parent can bare. By giving them financial freedom, a parent can take the time off that is needed to handle a much different and difficult job of caring for and enjoying whatever precious time they are going to be given with their sick little one.

If you know a family experiencing financial hardship due to childhood cancer please contact Efthemios or Nancy Velahos at 1-877-HOPE-022.  Using their company; NFC Group's modification programs it is their hope to help other parents through this difficult journey of living with childhood cancer. They offer mortgage relief that can help families to celebrate whatever time they are going to be given with their children rather than spend their time focused on the stress of financial hardship.

For more information on The Parkway Run, please visit their website www.parkwayrun.com.  If you would like to participate in the event you can register on Sunday morning at 7:00 AM in front of The Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia.
